The Renault 5 E-Tech Electric: Bridging heritage and innovation

Renault has announced the launch of the Renault 5 E-Tech Electric, an electric vehicle that embodies the company’s shift towards sustainable and innovative mobility. This new model draws inspiration from the iconic Renault 5, known for its groundbreaking design and efficiency, aiming to address current societal and environmental challenges such as energy conservation and reducing carbon emissions. The Renault 5 E-Tech Electric integrates electrical and digital technology, adopting a local and responsible circular production model.

The vehicle represents a significant milestone in Renault’s “Renaulution” strategy, signifying a move towards electric mobility and technological innovation within its product range. Manufactured entirely in France, the Renault 5 E-Tech Electric aims to set a new standard in the small city car segment with its competitive pricing starting at approximately €25,000. The development of this car involved a collaborative effort across various Renault Group entities, including Ampere and Mobilize, to leverage expertise in electric vehicles and software.

The design of the Renault 5 E-Tech Electric pays homage to its predecessor’s playful and modern aesthetic, incorporating a “retrofuturistic” style with bright colors and distinctive lighting. It features advanced technology, such as a bidirectional charger compatible with V2L and V2G technologies, and aims for a range of up to 400 km WLTP with its battery options. The car also emphasizes safety, comfort, and connectivity, including an intuitive multimedia system and the introduction of Reno, an official Renault avatar designed to enhance the driving experience.

Renault’s commitment to sustainability is evident in the production of the Renault 5 E-Tech Electric, with plans to assemble the vehicle and its batteries in France, emphasizing local supplier networks to minimize environmental impact. The vehicle aims for an 85% recyclability rate, incorporating recycled materials and contributing to a circular economy.

Scheduled for launch in September 2024, the Renault 5 E-Tech Electric aspires to meet the demands of modern mobility, blending technological innovation with a commitment to environmental responsibility.
