Porsche Taycan Cross Turismo set to debut in the next couple of months

If you’re a fan of the Porsche Taycan but wish there was a roomier, more practical variant, you won’t have to wait long. Porsche took to Instagram to announce that the high-riding wagon variant of the electric sedan will debut in less than eight weeks. The Taycan Cross Turismo was supposed to follow the sedan variant closely; however, it was delayed due to strong demand for the four-door despite the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

Along with announcing the debut of the Taycan Cross Turismo, Porsche also announced former race car driver Mark Webber as a new brand ambassador. “Phenomenal first drive for me with this beauty,” said Webber. “Drives like a Porsche feels like a Porsche, smells like a Porsche. It’s a proper sports car with even more space and ground clearance now. Expect the world premiere of the all-new Taycan Cross Turismo to take place in less than eight weeks.”

The Porsche Taycan Cross Turismo was initially previewed as a concept at the 2018 Geneva auto show called the Mission E Cross Turismo. Essentially a lifted wagon version of the Taycan, expect the same powertrain options as its sedan sibling. However, the Taycan Sport Turismo will likely not be available in the single-motor configuration since it’s supposed to be slightly more rugged. The total range on a full charge shouldn’t get impacted too much since the Cross Turismo isn’t that much higher off the ground versus the sedan. An available air suspension should allow the Taycan Cross Turismo to raise and lower itself depending on the road conditions.
