It seems like it’s inevitable that nearly anything with wheels and a gasoline-powered engine will eventually go electric and John Deere is the latest brand to usher in an electric era. Known for its powerful turf equipment, the company has released its first electric residential zero turn mower called the Z370R Electric ZTrak. Featuring a 3.56-kWh battery pack, John Deere says customers can mow up to 2 acres on a single charge. Like swapping out an ICE vehicle with a BEV, the electric zero turn mower has a lot less maintenance — no gas, no oil changes, filters, and belts.
Perhaps one of the biggest benefits is how quiet the Z370R Electric ZTrak is to operate. That means increased comfort from less noise and vibration while mowing. It’s also simpler to use and even comes with a large LCD screen to monitor battery levels. Users can also adjust settings based on preference and yard conditions. Like other electric vehicles, it can also connect through an app so owners can monitor the mower’s charge status and battery level.
Charging can be done with just a standard household outlet and outdoor extension cord if needed. John Deere equips this mower with its 42″ Accel Deep mower deck that features industry-exclusive John Deere MulchControl technology.
The battery pack is integrated and sealed with onboard charging to supply power to the unit. That means not having to remove the battery pack to charge it, and since it’s fully sealed you can operate the machine in wet and rainy conditions. John Deere is backing the battery pack with a 5-year manufacturer’s warranty.

That’s why it is important for us to provide our customers with a broad range of mower options without compromising performance from gas machines,” said Eric Halfman, go-to-market manager, riding lawn equipment, John Deere. “Customers are demanding more from their equipment, and since no one knows our customers or their work better than we do, we are prepared to deliver like no other, starting with the Z370R Electric zero turn mower.”
