Cadillac Optiq to serve as entry point into brand’s EV offerings

Today Cadillac is announcing that it will be bringing a smaller EV to the U.S. marketplace below the Lyriq. In keeping up with the naming structure, Cadillac is calling it the Optiq.

The Optiq is a luxury compact crossover that sits below the Lyriq. Based on the limited information we have, it appears to have similar proportions to the Chevrolet Equinox, and will undoubtedly be built atop GM’s Ultium platform architecture.

Being similar to the Equinox in size (and likely charging performance and range), makes sense because the Lyriq and the Blazer EV are also quite similar.

Cadillac claims that “Optiq’s spirited driving dynamics are designed to appeal to global luxury customers.” A smaller and lighter EV will obviously feel lighter on its feet, and the company seems to be positioning the model to be sold on the global stage.

What else do we know? Not a lot. Cadillac says that additional details, features, and obviously pricing will be unveiled at some point next year.

A more affordable Cadillac EV is an obvious decision, but what do you think?
