U.S. News releases its Best Hybrid, Best Plug-In Hybrid, and Best EV awards for 2021

Over the past couple of years, the new car marketplace in the United States has grown significantly with regards to fully electric vehicles, plug in hybrids, and regular hybrid electric vehicles.

Deciding which one to purchase can be a daunting process, which is why U.S. News & World Report creates a list each year of the best cars to purchase, after evaluating all of the latest and greatest offerings.

This year, they evaluated 73 different vehicles and awarded winners in several categories.

“The wave of electrified vehicles is starting to crash into the mainstream market,” says Jamie Page Deaton, executive editor of U.S. News Best Cars. “The Best Hybrid and Electric Car awards help consumers focus their shopping by highlighting the vehicles that not only reduce their emissions and fuel costs, but also fit into their lifestyle.”

Hyundai brought home the most wins, including best PHEV and best HEV. Both of the cars selected were variations of the Ioniq. The best EV was won by Chevrolet with the Bolt EV. Ford won the hybrid SUV category with the Escape Hybrid.

Rounding the out the list is the Tesla Model Y for Best Luxury Electric Vehicle, the Audi A7 PHEV for Best Luxury Plug-In Hybrid, and the Lexus ES Hybrid for Best Luxury Hybrid.
