TravelCenters of America is adding Electrify America chargers

The largest publicly-traded, full-service travel center network in the U.S. has announced an agreement with Electrify America to add charging stations to select TA/Petro locations starting this year. TravelCenters of America and Electrify America have plans to install 1,000 individual chargers at 200 locations over five years and they’ll be located along major highways throughout the U.S. As part of the agreement, TA will purchase Electrify America’s DC fast chargers and Electrify America will be in charge of installing, operating, and maintaining those stations.

These TA chargers will be part of the Electrify America charging network, so customers will be able to access and pay for charging through the Electrify America app. The DC faster chargers will be capable of delivering up to 350 kW to supported vehicles and is a welcomed addition to the ever-growing infrastructure in the U.S.

Currently, TravelCenters of America has 281 locations in 44 states, operating mainly under the TA, Petro Stopping Centers, and TA Express brands. These stations offer diesel and gasoline fuel, truck maintenance and repair, full-service and quick-service restaurants, travel stores, and more. With the addition of Electrify America DC fast chargers, TA is looking to further build its brand as the ideal resting place on road trips across the U.S.

“TA’s large locations with expansive amenities are attractive to EV motorists and we are committed to expanding our EV charging infrastructure to accommodate this growing number of EV drivers over time,” said Jon Pertchik, Chief Executive Officer of TravelCenters of America. “Our agreement with best-in-class Electrify America provides an unmatched offering of excellence in locations, service, support.”
