McLaren Artura hybrid supercar teased again before the official debut

Only seven days remain until the official debut of the McLaren Artura and we’ve got our hands on another teaser packed with lots of juicy details. The 42-second clip posted on YouTube goes beyond sharing the cool design cues. We also get a little peek at what’s powering the Artura, too.

Quite possibly the highlights of the teaser are the glimpses we get of the powertrain. Not only do we get a full view of the mid-mounted twin-turbo V6 engine, but we also get a glimpse of the hybrid system built around it. The battery pack appears to be mounted as low as possible just behind the engine where a small trunk would be in the case of mid-engine supercars. The digital gauge cluster reveals that the Artura is a plug-in hybrid, meaning it’ll be able to travel in full EV mode for short distances before the internal combustion engine assists.

Other noteworthy details include butterfly doors illuminated on the inside with green ambient lighting. We also get a good view of the Artura’s silhouette, further hinting at its low-slung profile and mid-engine layout. The digital gauge cluster also appears to be configurable and provides you with all the necessary info including charge times and how far you can go with a fully charged battery and a full tank of gas.

The Artura will be the second plug-in hybrid McLaren vehicle following the P1 hypercar. However, the Artura won’t be a limited production model. Debuting with the car is a new twin-turbo six-cylinder-based plug-in hybrid powertrain, which will likely spread to future McLaren models.
