Did the base Porsche Taycan just get teased?

Porsche released a cryptic teaser on Facebook announcing a new Taycan variant. The photo posted shows four different Taycan models, including the 4S, Turbo, and Turbo S. However, the bronze one on the very left had its badge blurred out, preventing anyone from seeing what this new addition is.

If we were to make an educated guess, that would be the new base Porsche Taycan. This could be the least expensive way to get into Porsche’s all-electric sports sedan because it will likely drop the car’s price under the $100,000 mark. Expect this Taycan to be less powerful than the 4S but it’ll likely be able to travel farther than 203 miles. Porsche could offer two battery sizes just like in the 4S, which should make the base Taycan a bit more compelling, especially if it’s able to go longer distances on a charge. The base Taycan could only come in RWD form, which could help bring its price down. That, however, could limit its appeal to areas within the Sunbelt.

Expect Porsche to reveal more on this new Taycan variant within the next few days. This could finally lower the car’s starting price, putting it closer to its chief competitor, the Tesla Model S, which starts at $69,420. As with every Porsche model, expect extensive customization options, which means the price could easily climb back up if you’re not careful.
