ChargePoint app adds support for Android Auto

ChargePoint announced that it has been integrated into the Android Auto interface to allow drivers to easily access charging infrastructure information. This is the latest addition to ChargePoint’s growing list of collaborations because the app is already compatible with Amazon Alexa and Apple CarPlay. Polestar and Volvo even have an integrated ChargePoint app in their vehicles.

“At ChargePoint, we know that the shift to electric mobility relies on driver experience, and ChargePoint’s Android Auto app is another pivotal step in the evolution already underway, driven by software and increased connectivity,” said Bill Loewenthal, Senior Vice President of Product at ChargePoint. “With the ability to connect their phone directly to their EV through Android Auto, drivers now have access to ChargePoint app information right on the vehicle display.”

Starting today, the ChargePoint app will be available via Android Auto as long as your device has the Android 6.0 update. Some of the app’s key features include a map with nearby stations, the ability to check station status and start a charging session. You can also filter stations based on charger type, speed, availability, and cost, and get more detailed information on the charging stations on the list. The app also can notify the driver when a station becomes available for use.
