Volvo opens orders for 2026 EX90 with major upgrades

Volvo Cars has opened orders for the 2026 EX90 and introduced hardware and software upgrades led by a new 800-volt electric system. The update enables faster charging, while a dual NVIDIA DRIVE AGX Orin-based core computer delivers 500 TOPS of computing power for enhanced safety, collision avoidance, and driver support. New connected alerts can warn of slippery roads, hazards ahead, and accidents ahead, and Emergency Stop Assist now integrates automatic e-call to connect occupants with an emergency call center if the car stops due to an unresponsive driver.

Additional features include expanded automatic emergency steering functionality in darkness and Park Pilot assist for parallel parking. “The additional computing power enables us to harness the power of AI, data and software to further enhance safety and overall performance of the EX90,” said Anders Bell, chief technology and engineering officer at Volvo Cars. Owners of the 2025 EX90 will receive a one-time free upgrade of the core computer via a scheduled workshop visit.

Charging performance benefits from the 800-volt architecture and in-house battery management software, which together can add up to 250 km of range in just 10 minutes. The system also supports higher efficiency and more power for faster acceleration.

Rounding out the update, the EX90 now includes an electrochromic panoramic roof that lets drivers adjust glass transparency to reduce glare or increase privacy.
