Tesla introduces Model Y Standard with 321 mile range

Tesla has rolled out the Model Y Standard, a cheaper, simpler base trim that keeps the brand’s core tech and range. The rear wheel drive model lists an EPA estimated 321 miles of range, a 0 to 60 mph time of 6.8 seconds, and a starting price of $39,990 before destination. It includes seamless Supercharger access with automatic route planning, mobile app controls with remote climate, and safety features like Sentry Mode and Dog Mode. A 15.4 inch center touchscreen, seating for five adults, and 74 cubic feet of cargo space remain standard.

Autopilot is not standard on the Model Y Standard. It ships with adaptive cruise control, automatic emergency braking, and blind spot monitoring. The car is hardware ready for Full Self Driving, which remains an $8,000 add on. Charging peaks at 225 kW with pay per use billing, and Tesla cites up to 160 miles added in 15 minutes.

Cost savings show up in the hardware. The base model trades the panoramic glass roof, rear screen, leather seats, and light bars for a metal roof, fabric seats, and simpler exterior lighting. Wheel choices are 18 or 19 inches with aero covers. The Long Range is now called Premium. In a crowded segment, the lower price helps, but this is a pragmatic move to hold the line rather than a low cost EV revolution.
