Subaru of America, Inc. has introduced the 2025 Subaru Forester Hybrid at the 2025 Chicago Auto Show. This model marks the first hybrid variant of the Forester in the U.S. market. It incorporates a next-generation Subaru series-parallel hybrid system, which works in conjunction with Subaru’s Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive, aiming to enhance both range and capability. The hybrid powertrain is designed to integrate with the existing all-wheel-drive architecture without compromising its performance.
The 2025 Forester Hybrid features a 2.5-liter SUBARU BOXER engine paired with electric motors, producing a total of 194 horsepower. This hybrid SUV is reported to offer up to 40% better fuel efficiency compared to its non-hybrid counterparts, achieving an EPA-estimated rating of 35 mpg in the city and 34 mpg on the highway. The vehicle is expected to provide a range of up to 581 miles on a single tank of fuel. It will be available at retailers nationwide starting in spring 2025, with a base price of $34,995.
In terms of design, the 2025 Forester Hybrid maintains a standard ground clearance of 8.7 inches, which is higher than many other SUVs, while also ensuring a low step-in height for easy entry. The vehicle is equipped with Subaru’s EyeSight Driver Assist Technology across all trim levels, featuring enhancements that improve its performance under various conditions. This system can identify pedestrians and cyclists, providing alerts and automatic braking if necessary. Additional safety features include Reverse Automatic Braking and Blind-Spot Detection.
The Forester Hybrid also includes a 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster and an 11.6-inch Multimedia Navigation system, which supports wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The multimedia system integrates various vehicle functions and provides connectivity options such as Bluetooth and SiriusXM radio.
For aesthetics, the Forester Hybrid will be offered in a new exterior color, Daybreak Blue Pearl, and will feature unique badging. Select trim levels will include high-durability, animal-free StarTex interiors. Overall, the 2025 Subaru Forester Hybrid aims to provide a blend of efficiency, safety, and capability in the compact SUV segment.
