Subaru of America, Inc. has introduced the 2026 Subaru Solterra EV at the 2025 New York International Auto Show. This all-electric SUV, which first appeared in 2023, has been enhanced in several areas including driving performance, efficiency, styling, and cabin comfort. The 2026 model comes equipped with Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive and a comprehensive suite of Subaru EyeSight driver-assistance technologies. Notably, it features a new 14-inch multimedia system that supports wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
The 2026 Solterra is powered by a 74.7-kWh lithium-ion battery, which offers an estimated range exceeding 285 miles, marking a more than 25% increase compared to the previous model. A newly introduced battery preconditioning system helps maintain optimal charging temperatures, particularly in colder weather, when navigating to charging stations or activated by the driver.
This model includes an advanced all-wheel drive system that integrates independent motor outputs for improved performance both on and off-road. The front and rear motors are managed by an upgraded controller, allowing for more flexible power distribution in various driving conditions. The Solterra now generates 233 horsepower, with the new XT trim level featuring dual electric motors that produce 338 horsepower, enabling acceleration from 0-60 mph in under 5 seconds.

Charging capabilities have also been enhanced, with the new battery pack capable of charging from 10% to 80% in less than 35 minutes at rates up to approximately 150 kW. The inclusion of standard NACS charging ports allows access to over 15,000 Tesla Superchargers across North America, while home charging options include Level 1 and Level 2 compatibility.
For off-road capabilities, the 2026 Solterra maintains Subaru’s Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive system, which includes X-MODE Dual-Mode System with Snow/Dirt and Deep Snow/Mud modes. The vehicle features 8.3 inches of ground clearance, providing it with genuine off-road capabilities. Improvements to the suspension and electric power steering have been made to enhance handling and responsiveness.
Technological advancements in the 2026 Solterra include a new 14-inch touchscreen that provides quick access to entertainment, weather, and vehicle information. Wireless smartphone chargers for the front seats and multiple USB-C charging points are standard features. The vehicle is also equipped with a variety of EyeSight driver-assist technologies such as Pre-Collision Braking, Blind Spot Monitors, and Advanced Adaptive Cruise Control.

In terms of styling, the 2026 Solterra introduces a new EV lighting signature along with redesigned headlamps and a new front bumper. The interior features a low center touchscreen and an open greenhouse design for improved visibility. The cabin is designed with metallic finishes and a wide center console for better organization of personal items.
Pricing and further specifications for the 2026 Subaru Solterra will be released when the vehicle becomes available for sale later this year.
