Acura pulled the wraps off the RSX Prototype at Monterey Car Week, a dramatic look at the brand’s next all-electric model and the first Acura engineered in-house on Honda’s new EV platform. Finished in “Propulsion Yellow Pearl,” the coupe-inspired SUV previews a production RSX due in the second half of 2026, positioned as a premium, performance entry that advances Acura’s electrification strategy.
The production RSX will be built in Ohio at Honda’s EV Hub, on the same Marysville Auto Plant line as the Integra, underscoring a flexible approach that lets the company assemble internal-combustion, hybrid, and battery-electric vehicles on shared lines. “It’s not just a new EV, but a compelling all-new Acura model,” said Lance Woelfer, vice president of auto sales at American Honda, adding that the RSX is designed to honor nearly four decades of Precision Crafted Performance with modern technology and design.

A centerpiece of that technology is ASIMO OS, a new, proprietary operating system that ushers Acura into the software-defined vehicle era. Debuting on the production RSX, ASIMO OS will manage everything from driver-assist and automated driving functions to infotainment and connected services, with over-the-air updates and machine learning tuned to each owner’s preferences and driving style. The vehicle will also double as mobile energy storage, with the ability to power appliances and provide home backup power.
Under the skin, Acura promises a familiar performance brief adapted for electric propulsion. Standard equipment will include dual-motor all-wheel drive, a sport-tuned double-wishbone front suspension, a low center of gravity, and Brembo brakes, a package aimed at delivering the kind of engaging dynamics the brand’s buyers expect. Driver-assistive technologies will take another step forward as well, building on Acura’s existing suite.

Designwise, the RSX Prototype leans hard into the freedom afforded by a clean-sheet EV platform. The fastback roofline and long wheelbase push the wheels to the corners for short overhangs and a planted stance. Deeply sculpted sides, flush door handles, and an integrated ducktail-style rear spoiler emphasize airflow and speed, while flared arches house multi-spoke 21-inch wheels that frame bright red Brembo calipers. Up front, Acura evolves its Diamond Pentagon language with a bolder face and a separated-headlight arrangement that pairs slim daytime running lights with low-mounted LED headlamps. A full-width rear light bar nods to the second-generation NSX, with “ACURA” spelled out across the tailgate in a new font. “Starting from this all-new RSX, we will redefine the Acura brand around timeless beauty and a high-tech feel,” said Yasutake Tsuchida, Acura’s creative director and vice president of American Honda R&D.
The RSX Prototype will greet the public at The Quail, a Motorsports Gathering, on Friday, Aug. 15, with a press event at 10:36 a.m. PT, before moving to the Concept Lawn at the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance on Sunday, Aug. 17.
