Polestar to adopt NACS, which comes as a surprise to literally nobody

Now that the industry has seemingly decided that NACS is the way to go for charging, automakers are starting to come on board pledging to support it. It makes sense that once Volvo decided to make the switch, Polestar wouldn’t be far behind.

It took the whole of two days for Polestar to announce that it’ll adopt NACS in the United States and Canada in 2025.

“This is a great win for our North American customers! We salute the pioneering work Tesla has done to speed up the adoption and increase the popularity of electric vehicles, and it’s great to see the Supercharger network being made available in this way. With 12,000 charging points today, a number that will only keep growing, this move will greatly increase the rate of EV adoption in a key automotive region,” says Thomas Ingenlath, CEO.

Future NACS-equipped Polestars will come equipped with a CCS adapter, which we’ve been calling a dongle, so that future cars will be able to use both NACS chargers and CCS chargers, though many charging stations will likely be converted by that time.
