New RAV4 adds plug-in hybrid GR SPORT and standalone Woodland grade

Toyota is rolling out its all-new sixth-generation RAV4 for 2026, doubling down on customer choice with three distinct styles—Core, Rugged and Sport—and two hybrid powertrains. The lineup now includes a standalone Woodland model for outdoor enthusiasts and, for the very first time in the U.S., a RAV4 GR SPORT tuned by the Gazoo Racing team. You’ll be able to pick between a hybrid electric or plug-in hybrid drivetrain, front- or all-wheel drive, and even choose your ride height and wheel size across LE, XLE, Limited, SE, XSE and GR SPORT grades.

The Core design sticks close to RAV4’s familiar hammerhead front end but cleans up the look with a paint-matched grille, chiseled body panels and available 17-, 18- or 20-inch wheels. The Woodland’s Rugged design adds all-terrain tires, raised rails, integrated LED lights and a rear activity mount, plus half-inch of extra ground clearance. On the Sport side, the GR SPORT brings a performance-tuned suspension, summer tires on unique 20-inch wheels, paddle shifters and wing-style spoilers—and it’s only offered as a plug-in hybrid.

Under the hood, the fifth-generation hybrid system bumps net output to 236 horsepower in AWD form (up from 219), and delivers 226 hp in FWD for the first time. The new plug-in hybrid system pushes output up to 320 hp and boosts electric-only range to an estimated 50 miles, with DC fast charging letting you go from 10 to 80 percent in about 30 minutes on select grades.

Inside, RAV4 adopts Toyota’s new Arene software platform and next-gen audio multimedia system on a 10.5- or 12.9-inch touchscreen. Digital HVAC controls live at the bottom of the screen, while a standard 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster keeps key info front and center. You’ll find shift-by-wire toggles in higher grades, plus JBL audio, head-up display options and an assortment of upholstery from fabric to SofTex and microsuede.

Built on the TNGA-K platform with added frame reinforcements and sound-damping adhesives, the new RAV4 is engineered for sharper handling, quieter rides and a more usable cargo area. Expect to see these models hit U.S. showrooms later this year, with pricing announced closer to launch.
