Kia Corporation recently held an installation during Milan Design Week to showcase its innovative approach to mobility through its Platform Beyond Vehicle (PBV) and electric vehicle (EV) models. The installation, titled “Transcend Journey,” examines the evolution of mobility and how Kia’s vehicles facilitate movement between urban and outdoor environments.
The exhibition features a twisting sculpture that embodies Kia’s “Opposites United” design philosophy, symbolizing the integration of contrasting ideas. It includes various Kia models, divided into two zones that connect urban life with nature. The featured vehicles are the Kia PV5 Passenger, designed for practical use in both settings; the Kia Concept EV2, which aims to incorporate natural elements into urban areas; and the Kia PV5 WKNDR, which enhances outdoor experiences.
The Concept EV2 Zone illustrates a tranquil urban park setting, complete with picnic items that complement the vehicle’s design. In contrast, the PV5 Zone presents the PV5 and PV5 WKNDR alongside artworks, with the WKNDR area designed as a camping retreat, complete with plants and outdoor gear. This setup emphasizes the vehicles’ ability to bridge urban and outdoor lifestyles.

Kia collaborated with Helinox, a provider of lightweight outdoor equipment, to create the installation. The artistic structure, made from materials used in Helinox products, reinforces the theme of adaptability in mobility. The pavilion-style artwork showcases the PV5 and PV5 WKNDR, with the latter surrounded by Helinox camping chairs, enhancing its outdoor appeal.
In addition, a pop-up coffee booth by the South Korean brand Potler provided visitors with coffee and a s’more kit, further engaging them in the experience. The Concept EV2 was paired with outdoor lifestyle items, highlighting its versatility for both city driving and outdoor activities.
The Kia PV5, the first production model under the PBV strategy, offers modular flexibility with various body styles, including Passenger, Cargo, and Chassis Cab. It utilizes Kia’s Electric-Global Modular Platform, providing a range of up to 400 kilometers and a fast-charging capability of 30 minutes. The PV5 Passenger is designed for both personal and business use, featuring a spacious interior and flexible seating arrangements.

The Kia PV5 WKNDR Concept is fully self-sufficient, equipped with solar panels and hydro turbine wheels for battery recharging. It features a modular interior that can be customized for various uses, including a unique storage solution called the “Gear Head,” which allows for outdoor cooking and gear storage.
The Kia Concept EV2 is an all-electric B-segment SUV that aims to enhance urban living. It features a sustainable interior, flexible seating, and innovative design elements that cater to lifestyle-driven consumers. This model reflects Kia’s commitment to integrating advanced technology and sustainability into everyday mobility solutions.
