Kia’s EV3 brings flagship technology to compact EV SUV segment

Kia has introduced the new Kia EV3, a compact electric SUV, which features a combination of innovative technology and advanced design. The EV3 aims to set new standards in the compact EV SUV sector by incorporating elements from the brand’s flagship EV9 SUV.

The EV3 boasts a bold, progressive exterior design and a practical, spacious interior. It offers a driving range of up to 600 kilometers and can charge from 10 to 80 percent in approximately 31 minutes. The vehicle also includes advanced features such as the Kia AI Assistant, premium streaming services, advanced driving assistance systems, and over-the-air updates.

Kia’s ‘Opposites United’ design philosophy, which blends nature and modernity, is evident in the EV3’s design. The vehicle features vertical headlamps, a sleek roofline, and a dynamic silhouette. It is available in nine body colors, including two exclusive options: Aventurine Green and Terracotta.

Inside, the EV3 offers a cabin that accommodates five people, with a focus on comfort and functionality. The center console includes a sliding table and storage area, and the vehicle provides a 25-liter frunk and a 460-liter rear load capacity. A near-30-inch widescreen display spans the dashboard, offering various functionalities.

The EV3 is equipped with a state-of-the-art electric powertrain based on the Electric Global Modular Platform (E-GMP). It is available in two models: the Standard model with a 58.3kWh battery and the Long Range variant with an 81.4kWh battery. Both models feature a 150kW electric motor, enabling a 0-100 km/h acceleration time of 7.5 seconds and a maximum speed of 170 km/h.

Safety and convenience features include Advanced Driving Assistance Systems (ADAS) such as Electric Dynamic Torque Vectoring Control, Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist, and Highway Driving Assist. The EV3 also introduces Kia’s i-Pedal 3.0 regenerative braking technology and Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) charging.

The EV3 will be available first in Korea in July 2024, followed by its European launch later in the year. Kia plans to expand the availability of the EV3 to other regions subsequently.

Kia, founded in 1944, is a global mobility brand with a vision to create sustainable mobility solutions. The company operates in more than 190 markets and aims to popularize electrified and battery electric vehicles.
