Kia America to unveil electric vehicle concepts at Work Truck Week 2024

Kia America is set to participate in Work Truck Week at the Indiana Convention Center in Indianapolis on March 6-7, 2024. During the event, the company plans to showcase concept models of its Platform Beyond Vehicles (PBVs), specifically the PV5 and the PV7 models. This initiative is part of Kia’s broader strategy, referred to as Plan S, which aims to position the company as a global leader in sustainable mobility. This strategy emphasizes the electrification of transportation.

Steven Center, the COO & EVP of Kia America, expressed the company’s commitment to expanding into this segment, highlighting its alignment with their sustainability and electrification goals. The PV5, Kia’s inaugural PBV concept, is an electric vehicle (EV) tailored for the rideshare industry. This is underscored by Kia’s recent memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Uber, which aims to explore new partnership opportunities. The PV5 is designed with customizable delivery services in mind, featuring enhanced connectivity that facilitates efficient operation through software-defined fleet management. This vehicle was previously introduced at CES in various configurations, such as Basic, High Roof, Robotaxi, and Pickup, with a potential market launch in the US anticipated in 2026.

The PV7, representing the larger model in Kia’s PBV concept lineup, promises more interior space, an extended all-electric driving range, and improved functionality. In addition to vehicle concepts, Kia is developing advanced fleet management solutions to enable customers to manage multiple vehicles effectively. These solutions are expected to offer real-time logistical insights, including sales, inventory, and delivery schedules, and may feature inventory monitoring, temperature control, and intelligent route planning for enhanced EV efficiency. The integration of real-time data and artificial intelligence aims to facilitate predictive maintenance and optimize overall efficiency.
