It’s a shame this Chinese EV isn’t coming to the US

Xiaomi has announced the official sales launch of the Xiaomi SU7 Ultra, the flagship model in its SU7 Series. The vehicle is available at a starting price of RMB 529,900. Along with the standard model, optional configurations such as the “Racing Package” and the “Nürburgring Nordschleife Limited Edition” will be available following the completion of the model’s Nürburgring Nordschleife lap challenge.

The Xiaomi SU7 Ultra is built with a tri-motor configuration and a high-power battery pack, generating a maximum output of 1548 PS. It can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 1.98 seconds, with a top speed of 350 km/h. The vehicle includes a track-optimized cooling system, allowing it to complete two consecutive laps at the Nürburgring Nordschleife without overheating. A high-performance braking system enables the car to stop from 100 km/h in 30.8 meters. Xiaomi has tuned the chassis at the Nürburgring Nordschleife for improved control. The model is intended for both track use and daily driving.

Xiaomi SU7 Ultra has been tested on several racetracks in China. It recorded lap times at the Shanghai International Circuit, Chengdu Tianfu International Circuit, Zhuzhou International Circuit, and Zhuhai International Circuit. The company plans to continue testing the model at other professional racetracks.

The vehicle features a design that emphasizes aerodynamics and performance. It is available in five exterior colors: Lightning Yellow, Space Silver, Verdant Green, Pearl White, and Obsidian Black. The car includes an oversized front splitter, U-shaped air curtains, an active rear diffuser, and a carbon fiber rear spoiler. These elements contribute to a maximum downforce of 285 kg. The car incorporates carbon fiber materials to reduce weight, including a 1.7m² carbon fiber roof.

The model also introduces an electric hood, dual 50W wireless phone charging, auto-dimming rearview mirrors, and blind-spot detection. The infotainment system is powered by the Snapdragon 8295 chip and runs on Xiaomi’s HyperOS software. A dedicated Racetrack Master app allows drivers to monitor vehicle performance, lap times, and driving modes.

The braking system includes carbon ceramic brake discs and high-performance calipers. The model has undergone multiple braking tests and features a suspension system with dual-chamber air springs and adaptive dampers. The tri-motor configuration enables torque vectoring, dynamically adjusting motor torque 500 times per second.

Xiaomi SU7 Ultra is equipped with multiple driving modes for different conditions, including endurance, qualifying, drift, beginner, economy, wet, sport, and custom modes. Safety features include mis-acceleration inhibition and low-speed autonomous emergency braking. The battery pack has a bulletproof coating to improve durability.

The Xiaomi SU7 Ultra is now available through Xiaomi’s sales channels.
