Honda introduces new Ye Series EVs to the Chinese market

Honda has announced the launch of a new electric vehicle (EV) series tailored for the Chinese market, named the 烨 (yè) Series, or Ye Series. The reveal includes the first look at the Ye P7 and Ye S7 models, along with a concept vehicle for future models, the Ye GT CONCEPT. These models were introduced as part of Honda’s ongoing effort to expand its EV offerings in China, aligning with the country’s rapidly progressing shift towards electric vehicles.

The Ye P7 and Ye S7 are built on a newly developed EV platform, featuring options for either one-motor rear-wheel drive or two-motor four-wheel drive configurations. These designs aim to enhance the driving experience, blending sporty handling with powerful, responsive control. The vehicles also incorporate advanced interior designs, which include interactive LED light emissions that respond to AI-assisted functions, enhancing the sense of modernity and intelligence within the cabin.

The Ye GT CONCEPT, representing future aspirations for Honda’s EVs in China, features a design that emphasizes a connection with the driving experience, reminiscent of Grand Tourer racing styles. It includes innovative passenger experiences, such as a far-focus display intended to simulate a private theater.

These introductions are part of Honda’s broader strategy to launch six Ye Series models in China by 2027, contributing to Honda’s global goal of achieving carbon neutrality by 2050. This initiative also includes making EVs 100% of its automobile sales in China by 2035, highlighting Honda’s commitment to environmental sustainability and technological advancement in the face of a rapidly evolving automotive market.

The Ye P7 and Ye S7 are expected to be available for purchase by the end of 2024, with the production models based on the Ye GT CONCEPT projected to hit the market before the end of 2025.
