Ford gives Mustang Mach-E Rally details, the first electric Safari crossover

Ford is set to add to the electric vehicle landscape with the introduction of the Mustang Mach-E Rally, a rally-inspired EV that promises to bring the thrill of Mustang to off-road terrains.

Donna Dickson, the chief engineer of Mustang Mach-E, expressed her excitement, stating, “Just a year ago, this was merely an idea. Today, it stands as a testament to the passion and creativity of our Model e team.” The Mustang Mach-E Rally is a fusion of a rally-tuned suspension, a powerful dual motor electric powertrain, and a striking design, positioning it as a unique performance vehicle in the EV market.

At its heart, the Mustang Mach-E Rally boasts a tuned version of the Mustang Mach-E GT powertrain. With a two-motor setup, it aims to deliver 650 lb.-ft. of torque and 480 horsepower. The vehicle’s distinctive suspension, raised 20 millimeters above the Mustang Mach-E GT, is complemented by specially tuned springs, MagneRide shocks, and large 385-millimeter front brake rotors with red-painted Brembo-branded calipers.

The EV’s battery, a lithium-ion with a 91 kWh usable capacity, targets an EPA-estimated range of 250 miles. Additionally, its fast-charging capabilities mean it can charge from 10 to 80% in just about 36.5 minutes on a DC Fast Charger.

Aesthetically, the Mustang Mach-E Rally stands out with its gloss white 19-inch rally-style alloy wheels, inspired by Ford’s rich rally heritage. These wheels are paired with 235/55 R19 Michelin CrossClimate2 tires, designed for superior grip on loose surfaces. The vehicle also features protective measures, including shielding for the motors and protective film on door cladding and fender arches.

Drivers can also expect an enhanced driving experience with the RallySport Drive Mode. This mode, combined with the new tires, ensures optimal performance in snow and other challenging conditions.

Inside, the vehicle exudes a blend of comfort and style, with gloss white accents complementing the iconic white wheels and distinctive Ford-designed performance seats.

Jim Farley, Ford’s CEO, remarked, “Mustang Mach-E Rally takes Mustang where it hasn’t been before – to gravel and dirt roads. It’s inspired by true driving enthusiasts and offers a driving experience like never before.”

The Mustang Mach-E Rally is the latest addition to Ford’s growing EV lineup. With a targeted starting MSRP of around $65,000 in the U.S., the Mustang Mach-E Rally should offer adventure enthusiasts a unique driving experience with zero tailpipe emissions. Exact pricing details will be revealed closer to its launch.
