Ford continues electric ascent with F-150 Lightning at Pikes Peak

Ford Performance has announced its participation in the 102nd Pikes Peak International Hill Climb, an event sponsored by Gran Turismo. The automotive manufacturer plans to introduce a new electric vehicle, the Ford F-150 Lightning, as a demonstration truck in this year’s competition. The vehicle, assigned competitor number 150, represents Ford’s continued involvement in the event following the ascent of the electric SuperVan at Pikes Peak in 2023.

The qualifying rounds for the hill climb are scheduled to occur from June 18 through June 20. The main event, the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb, is set to take place on June 23. The location for both the qualifying days and the race day is in Colorado Springs, Colorado.

The Pikes Peak International Hill Climb is a well-known motorsport event that tests the capabilities of vehicles and drivers as they navigate the ascent of Pikes Peak, a mountain in the southern Front Range of the Rocky Mountains.

The Ford F-150 Lightning electric demonstrator truck will be one of the vehicles participating in the event. Details regarding the specific modifications or capabilities of this truck for the hill climb have not been disclosed by Ford Performance.
