Evasive Motorsports will tackle the 103rd Broadmoor Pikes Peak International Hill Climb on June 22 with a factory-supported Hyundai IONIQ 5 N. The California-based tuning specialist has transformed the production EV into a 641 hp, 4,350-lb hill-climb weapon, aiming to become one of the first electric entries under the elusive ten-minute mark.
Under its “Hyundai IONIQ 5 N Pikes Peak” banner, Evasive has removed 500 lb by swapping steel doors and tailgate for carbon-fiber, then added Voltex Japan aero parts—including splitter, side skirts, underbody panels and a large rear wing—to boost downforce at altitude. Rapid tire changes will be handled by Krontec air jacks beneath Titan 7 forged wheels wrapped in Yokohama A005 VR19 slicks. A custom six-point roll cage by Eimer Engineering, prototype EVS Tuning anti-roll bars and Moton coilover dampers by Mike Kojima ensure the chassis remains planted across 156 turns.

Co-president Mike Chang says, “Our goal is to break the 10-minute barrier. With the IONIQ 5 N’s instant torque and our tuning expertise, we believe it’s within reach.” Veteran Pikes Peak racer Rob Walker will return behind the wheel, fine-tuning setup via sim practice and road-car testing on his own IONIQ 5 N. Walker notes that managing battery and tire temperatures will be key up to the 14,115-ft summit.
Following their 2022 Fastest EV result in a modified Tesla Model 3, Evasive hopes this Hyundai collaboration will underscore their EV prowess and set a new electric benchmark on America’s Mountain.
