Electric SUV Polestar 3 production kicks off, marking a new era for Polestar

Polestar has initiated the production of Polestar 3, an electric SUV, in Chengdu, China. This marks the beginning of a new phase for the company as it expands its manufacturing capabilities. Additionally, the company plans to commence production in South Carolina, USA, by mid-2024, having already completed an early production test series at the American facility successfully.

Thomas Ingenlath, the CEO of Polestar, has highlighted the significance of this milestone in the company’s evolution. He notes that the start of Polestar 3 production represents a crucial step in the company’s expansion from offering a single model to three different cars within the year. Furthermore, Ingenlath mentioned that the manufacturing plant in Ridgeville, South Carolina, is prepared for launch and that the company is on schedule with its plans to manufacture Polestar 3 in the United States.

The introduction of Polestar 3 production on two continents—Asia and North America—aims to bolster the company’s growth ambitions in key markets, including North America, Europe, and Asia. This strategy underlines Polestar’s commitment to increasing its global footprint and offering its electric vehicles to a wider audience.
