“Nobody wants EVs,” the anti-EV folks will tell you.
Someone should tell that to General Motors, because they clearly didn’t get the memo.
GM reported sales today and the company so far has sold 32,195 EVs. That’s up 60% more than this time last year. The General also said it has hit 9.5% in its U.S. EV market share.
More than 50% of these sales are people who are new to GM, exposing a whole new group of people to the GM ecosystem, dealer network, and overall customer experience. While EV owners might not be as brand loyal as other segments, that’s still a win for General Motors.
One could argue that incentives and great leasing deals are pushing the EV metal, and that’s true, but incentives and leasing deals are often used to sell cars in general. This isn’t something new to EVs.
Despite pulling the popular Apple Car Play feature from its new EVs, that hasn’t seemed to slow the pace of GM’s EV sales.
