Audi has introduced plug-in hybrid variants of its A6 Avant and A6 Sedan, each available in 220 kW and 270 kW system outputs. Both models combine a 2.0 TFSI gasoline engine producing 185 kW with an electric motor rated at up to 105 kW. The higher-output versions deliver 500 Nm of torque and can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.3 seconds, while the 220 kW variants reach the same speed in 6.0 seconds. Top speed for all versions is capped at 250 km/h.
A new high-voltage battery in the rear offers a gross capacity of 25.9 kWh (net 20.7 kWh), a 45 percent increase over the previous generation. Audi estimates that the increased battery allows more than 100 km of purely electric driving. Charging at up to 11 kW AC cuts recharge time from empty to full to around 2.5 hours. Recuperation performance has been improved, with up to three levels of regenerative braking selectable via steering-wheel paddles and automatic recuperation using route data or, optionally, predictive efficiency assistance.

Both plug-in hybrids feature Audi’s hybrid management system, which operates in either EV or hybrid mode. In EV mode, the vehicle runs exclusively on electric power until the battery is depleted. In hybrid mode, the system maintains a target state of charge using the combustion engine, with a digital slider allowing drivers to set their preferred charge level. Speeds up to 140 km/h are possible in electric mode.
Chassis and comfort enhancements include standard all-wheel steering, which reduces turning circles at low speeds and increases stability at higher speeds, and an electrified dual-clutch transmission with quattro ultra drive for agile performance. Sound insulation has been increased by up to 30 percent through optimized seals, acoustic glazing and refined transmission mounts.
Pricing in Germany starts at €65,800 for the A6 Sedan e-hybrid quattro 220 kW and €68,300 for the Avant, with the 270 kW S line variants beginning at €75,050 and €77,550 respectively. Orders open May 8, 2025, with deliveries planned for summer.
