Subaru of America, Inc. has announced the introduction of the 2026 Subaru Crosstrek Hybrid, marking the third generation of this model. The new hybrid variant features a next-generation series-parallel hybrid system and standard Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive, which aims to enhance both range and capability. This hybrid powertrain is designed to integrate smoothly with the existing all-wheel drive architecture without compromising performance. Standard features include Subaru’s EyeSight Driver Assist Technology, a 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster, and an 11.6-inch Subaru Starlink Multimedia system that supports wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
The powertrain of the 2026 Crosstrek Hybrid combines a 2.5-liter Subaru Boxer engine with electric motors, producing a total system output of 194 horsepower. This hybrid compact SUV is engineered to maintain Subaru’s renowned off-road capabilities while improving efficiency compared to its non-hybrid versions. The vehicle is expected to be available at retailers nationwide in the fall of 2025.

Each trim level of the 2026 Crosstrek Hybrid includes Subaru’s Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive, X-Mode with Hill Descent Control, and offers 8.7 inches of ground clearance, which is higher than many full-size SUVs. The hybrid powertrain utilizes a sealed lithium-ion battery rated at 1.1 kWh, enhancing its efficiency.
Safety features in the 2026 Subaru Crosstrek Hybrid include the latest version of EyeSight Driver Assist Technology, which has been improved for better performance across various conditions. This includes a wider field of view and enhanced control software, enabling it to detect cyclists and pedestrians more effectively. Additional safety options include Reverse Automatic Braking, Blind-Spot Detection with Lane Change Assist, and Rear Cross-Traffic Alert. A new Emergency Stop Assist feature is also included, which can stop the vehicle and alert emergency services if the driver becomes unresponsive.
For infotainment, the Crosstrek Hybrid offers a 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster and an 11.6-inch Subaru Starlink Multimedia system, which allows for navigation and compatibility with Apple Maps. The multimedia system features a high-resolution touchscreen that integrates various vehicle functions and supports Bluetooth connectivity, AM/FM radio, and SiriusXM services.
The 2026 Subaru Crosstrek Hybrid will also present two new exclusive exterior colors, Sand Dune Pearl and Citron Yellow Pearl, alongside 18-inch dark gray alloy wheels. Detailed pricing, specifications, and equipment information will be provided closer to the vehicle’s on-sale date in fall 2025.
